Consultations are by appointment only. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons. Please telephone on 01485 572769 or call into the surgeries to make an appointment. We aim to offer our patients routine appointments within 48 hours. If the problem is urgent the patient will be assessed by the Day Duty Doctor team and dealt with based on clinical need.
Routine appointments with GP, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants can be booked up to one month in advance.
You can book these appointments online (with your usual GP), by telephone or in person at the reception . To register for the online services please visit the surgery with photo ID (e.g. photo driving licence, passport) and ask the receptionist to register your details. You will be given a user name and password to access SystmOnline.
Each day at 08.30 am we release a number of appointments which can be booked on the day, which provides patients with an opportunity to choose which GP they see. These appointments can be booked via the telephone only. We do not encourage our patients to turn up at the main doors at 08.30 am in the hope of seeing a particular GP only to be disappointed that the appointments have already gone by the time they reach our reception, or to discover that the GP they want to see is not in clinic that day. Patients who wish to queue at the main doors at 08.30 will be offered the day duty doctor or nurse practitioner only.
Consultations are usually 10 minutes long. We realise that some problems may take longer than others, if the surgery does not run strictly to time, please be patient. If you are late for your appointment you may be asked to wait until the end of surgery, or to make a new appointment. Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot keep your appointment, as someone else may be able to use it.
The Role of the Day Duty Doctor
We guarantee that if the matter is urgent you will be seen on the day.
All requests that are given to the Day Duty Doctor are reviewed by the designated GP. A variety of options may be taken with the request, depending on the symptoms recorded and if there is any longstanding medical history. For example the matter may be able to be discussed over the telephone or the GP will ask you to attend the surgery or may suggest another intervention by our multidisciplinary medical team.
During normal surgery opening hours please contact the surgery on 01485 572769 we will see all medical emergencies on the day. There will be a doctor on call for emergencies or for urgent advice.
If you wish to have telephone advice from a doctor, please contact Reception before 11.30am. We will always try to put you in contact with your preferred doctor, but if he/she is not available and you wish to speak to a doctor on that day the Day Duty Doctor will contact you. Please leave a contact number where you will be available.
